Sewer Gas Smell - How to find it by Steve Labbe at Paradigm P&H Inc.

I received a BNI Referral from Ron Pinciaro from NE Remediation Services (ners@comcast.net) the other day for a new client at RMS Mortgage Service. Her name is Gladys White CMP and she was trying to find out what the smell was on warm days coming from her second floor.

As I walked around she showed me three old fashion tubs what are never used. This is an easy call for me but I wanted to mention about what is wrong here. A TRAP is what keeps the sewer gas from entering into a home or business.

Water is the way a trap keeps that sewer gas out. There are many types of traps in a plumbing system. Drum Traps and P-Traps are the most common. When you do not use a fixture you will need to add water to the Trap to prevent sewer gas from entering the building. Non Toxic Anti-Freeze is a great addition to this drain as it will not evaporate as quickly as water does. Just pour a 16 oz cup full into the drain.

I like to add Bio Clean http://www.biocleansource.com/ also because it freshens the drain while taking care of the pipe and whatever is in the pipe. This is a way to keep all the drains and vents clean so build up around the inside of the pipe stays clean. Thanks you Ron for your referral and Gladys for allowing Paradigm in your place of business to solve your sewer gas issue. We really appreciate you!
